Fresh, Spicy, Leathery

The true cologne of Napoleon.

FULL DESCRIPTION

Napoleon would spray himself with it before going to combat; Je suis un Homme is a reinterpretation of Cologne accords dear to his heart. Citrus and bergamot top notes to summon up the guard and prepare to storm an attack somewhere in between a Corsican scrub - on a myrtle note - and a retreat from Russia. Birch wood and cognac evoke the smell of saddle leather, boots and belts. The charge will be hasty and imperial... in a rough and ready way! Energetic and clearly manly, Je suis un Homme suits men who assert themselves... and women who assume their masculine side, ready to launch the offensive without being scared of reversing roles.

MAIN NOTES

Bergamot from Calabria, lemon, orange, cognac accord, myrrh, cinnamon, clove, animal notes, leather, patchouli

Old-School Verve

A great masculine scent, but you must be OK with a very "direct" scent that is also, surprisingly, very non-linear. Little timidity: starts with a bracing, powerful bergamot and citrus (max 30 minutes), and then moves to a very dominant leather note. IMO the leather smells like the equine tack shops from my childhood, and the power of this note is *directly* propertional to how hot it is. After about 2-3 hours, the drydown shifts strongly to spice and the gang: "big-time" clove, "wingman" cinnamon, "little" woody, and a bit of Mr Hennessy. Skin scent by hour 5-6. If, and I mean IF, you can handle the old-school feel, this is a great scent that has decent performance, but is absolutely not "beast mode" like some of the real classics. Amazingly, it is actually office safe. Really could be a daily reach for the right person, especially given that it contrasts so strongly with the current zeitgeist of men's fragrance. Full disclosure: grew on me so much, that I bought a full bottle after sampling most of the large ELDO sample set.
